Beneath the cross of Jesus 1. 在主寶架清影中，歡然立定腳跟， 好像盛暑遠行辛苦，投進磐石蔭影； 又像曠野欣逢居處，長途喜見涼亭， 到此得息肩頭重負，養力奔赴前程。 Beneath the cross of Jesus I long to take my stand, the shadow of a mighty rock within a weary land; a home within the wilderness, a rest upon the way, from the burning of the noontide heat, and the burden of the day.　 2. O safe and happy shelter, O refuge tried and sweet, O trysting place where Heaven’s love and Heaven’s justice meet! As to the holy patriarch that wondrous dream was given, So seems my Savior’s cross to me, a ladder up to heaven. 3. Clephane, 1830-1869） 這首詩的作者柯荔芬是長老會信徒，父親是蘇格蘭的警長，母親系出名門。 雙親早逝，但留給三個女兒足夠的財產生活。 柯荔芬自幼好學嫻靜，整天埋首在書堆中， 她熱愛創作，但生前從未發表任何寫作，她的作品，祗用來和好友分享。 柯荔芬雖身體虛弱，但個性開朗，樂於助人，經常資助貧孤，深獲當地居民的愛戴。 他們稱她為陽光，有人喻她進入房時，宛如一支照明的蠟燭，使人覺得滿室生輝，而她離去時，似乎燭光熄滅了。 這首詩作於1868年夏天，當時柯荔芬正在研讀「萬古磐石」作者涂來德（Augustus Toplady的生平。 原詩共有五節，猶如五幅連環的畫，逼真動人，但現今詩集僅採用其中三節。 柯荔芬一共作了八首聖詩，都取材自聖經經文。 在她去世後三年，她的作品被刊登在蘇格蘭長老會的雜誌「家庭寶藏」（Family Treasury）上， 其中有一篇「九十九羊」（The Ninety and Nine）後登載於報上。 1874年，孫基在火車上讀到此詩，很喜歡其詞句，撕下放入口袋中，那天晚上 慕迪在佈道會上的講題是「好牧人」，當他講完道後，請孫基獨唱一曲。 聖靈感動孫基拿出口袋中的詩，走到風琴旁即興而奏唱。 慕迪和會眾都被感動淚下。 這首時歌成為孫基作曲中最有名的詩歌之一，也是他常唱的詩歌。 --------------------------------------------------------
